Heather McMillan, Ph.D.
Professor — Management
Heather McMillan is an Associate Professor of Management in the Department of Management in the Donald L. Harrison College of Business and Computing at Southeast Missouri State University. She has completed her Ph.D. in Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She also received a Master of Business Administration in Health Care Human Resources and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources from East Tennessee State University. Additionally, she is certified as a Professional in Human Resources by the Society for Human Resource Management.
She has 8 years progressive human resource management experience in hospital organizations, culminating as HR Manager for a 50-bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital. She has taught a variety of management classes at the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University including Evaluating Training Design, Business Communications, Operations Management and Management Information Systems.
Dr. McMillan has a number of publications in academic journals, as well as multiple refereed conference proceedings, including Southern Management Association and the Academy for Human Resource Development. She has also presented research at the National Council of Family Relations Conference and the Families and Work Research Conference sponsored by Brigham Young University. She has been a reviewer, session chair and discussant at the national meetings of the Academy of Management, Academy of Human Resource Development and Southern Management Association. Finally, she served as Conference Program Coordinator for the Academy of Human Resource Development’s 2007 and 2008 conferences.
Dr. McMillan is a member of the Academy of Management, Academy of Human Resource Development, Southern Management Association, the Society for Human Resource Management, Phi Kappa Phi and Beta Gamma Sigma.
