YOUR PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING:
My philosophy of teaching involves service learning, getting students out into the community. I believe the community benefits from our students and likewise the students learn from the community. Nutrition is a subject that touches every single person, every single day. It is easy to tell someone how to eat, but understanding the barriers to good nutrition is essential in becoming an empathic nutrition professional.
WHY DID YOU DECIDE TO TEACH?
I am the third generation of teachers in my family. Growing up watching my grandmother and mother share stories of their classroom experiences shaped my desire to teach. I like the ripple effect of teaching where I feel I can make a difference. My favorite part of teaching, is hearing back from former students and learning of their amazing jobs and the difference they are making in the field of nutrition and health.
