My philosophy of teaching centers around experience-based learning. Although theory and knowledge provide the foundation, it is experience that crystalizes the concept for students. I encourage my students to look for real-world experiences where they can make connections with current practitioners.
I love to interact with students, watch them grow, and ultimately experience success.
Prior to joining the Southeast Missouri State University faculty, I served the university’s athletic department in various capacities. In 1985, I came to Southeast as an Assistant Women’s Basketball coach and coached for 10 years. During that time, our teams participated in six NCAA Tournaments, including an NCAA Division II National Runner Up finish in 1991. Later I moved to the administrative side of athletics and served as Assistant Athletic Director, overseeing NCAA Compliance and Student-Athlete Services for 10 years.
