Associate Professor, Clinical Education Coordinator - Athletic Training/Health Sciences — Allied Health, Kinesiology, & Sport Sciences
I began my career journey at Southern Oregon University, where I earned bachelor's degrees in 2002. During these years, I was an athletic training intern at Oakland Athletics minor league baseball clubs in California, Oregon, and British Columbia. I then spent three years at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas pursuing a Master's of Science degree in Kinesiology (emphasis in athletic training). My first two years were primarily dedicated to providing athletic training services to the men's soccer and women's cross country and track and field teams. I spent an additional year at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a graduate assistant with the athletic training program where I assisted in preparing for an accreditation site visit and teaching courses. I then became employed as an athletic trainer and clinical education coordinator at Missouri Valley College in 2005. I instructed athletic training and exercise science courses, provided athletic training services to the men's soccer and men's volleyball teams, and performed administrative duties within the accredited athletic training program. In 2014, I transitioned to an exclusively faculty role. This allowed me to dedicate additional time teaching athletic training material. I remained at Missouri Valley College until I started at Southeast Missouri State University in 2019. Since arriving at Southeast Missouri State University I have helped to develop and design the bachelor's of health science and the master's of science of athletic training programs. I keep an active research agenda relating to quality improvement, analyzing services provided by athletic trainers, and the functional movement of athletes.
