Instructor - Nutrition — Allied Health, Kinesiology, & Sport Sciences
My name is Dr. Lea Anne Lambert MBA (Master of Business Administration), RD, LD and I am an instructor in the nutrition program here at Southeast Missouri State University. I grew up just south of Cape Girardeau and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in human and environmental studies with an emphasis on dietetics. Upon graduation, I went onto Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina to complete my dietetic internship and began practicing as a dietitian in 1998. After working for a few years I completed an MBA in Healthcare Management from Harding University. I then began teaching at SEMO in 2012 and soon after started a doctoral program at the University of Missouri. I graduated with an EdD in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis in 2019.
Since 1998, I have worked in a variety of settings in the field of dietetics all over the world! I began my career as a clinical dietitian in two rural hospitals in the bootheel. I then worked for a grant program in Bloomfield public schools providing nutrition education, wellness, and running the after-school snack program. After getting married our life took us overseas to Ramstein Air Base where I had the opportunity to work in the Women, Infants, and Children supplemental nutrition program. After leaving Germany we landed in Las Vegas, NV and I worked as a health educator for an insurance company for two years and then transitioned to the Nevada State Veterans Home as the food service director and clinical dietitian. After my husband separated from the military, we moved back to Missouri and have been in Jackson ever since! Before starting my teaching career, I worked as the Clinical Nutrition Manager at Southeast Health and worked as a consultant dietitian in local Long Term Care centers, which I continue to do today as well as teaching!
