Presidential Initiatives
Continue to main contentSoutheast Missouri State University is a comprehensive public university with a mission to educate our region and beyond with student-centered and experiential learning. To that end, the President’s office works on several strategic initiatives to both promote Southeast and position it for the future.
Strategic Plan
Southeast began working on a strategic action plan in spring 2021. This campus-wide initiative was developed by a 21-person committee representing diverse facets of Southeast. The group presented institutional goals to the campus at the close of the spring semester for feedback throughout the summer, which was incorporated into priorities and goals for campus discussion in fall 2021. The final plan was presented to and approved by the Board of Governors in December 2021.
Legislative Priorities
Southeast Missouri State University works diligently with the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development as well as Missouri leadership and the legislature to ensure Southeast is poised to continue offering high quality education without high cost.
Health Sciences Building
In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), codified at 42 U.S.C. 4321 et seq., an Environmental Assessment has been prepared for the demolition of Dearmont Complex and the proposed construction of a new Health Sciences Building at Southeast Missouri State University. This project is subject to NEPA review because it is being funded with Federal funding available from the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
