The student outcomes of the computer science degree are narrower statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. In other words, these relate to the skills, knowledge, and behaviors students acquire in their matriculation through the degree program.
Student Outcomes of the Computer Science Program
Upon graduation students will have:
- CS-S0-1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
- CS-S0-2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.
- CS-S0-3. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
- CS-S0-4. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- CS-S0-5. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
- CS-S0-6. Apply computer science theory and software development fundamentals to produce computing-based solutions.

Upon graduation students will have:
- An ability to analyze a problem, and to identify and define the computing requirements appropriate to its solution.
- An ability to design, implement and evaluate a computer-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the discipline.
- An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences about technical information.
- An ability to make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- An ability to function effectively on teams to establish goals, plan tasks, meet deadlines, manage risk, and produce deliverables.
- An ability to apply theory in the design and implementation of computer-based solutions.

Student Learning Outcomes of the Master of Science in Cybersecurity
Prepare students for in-demand and challenging careers in cybersecurity and cybersecurity-related fields.
- Provide an ethical framework and comprehensive curricular coverage for students to meet challenges in cybersecurity
- Foster understanding of legal and compliance issues in cybersecurity for purposes of implementation and auditing
- Develop in students an understanding of threat modeling of digital assets, security policy generation, and issues with the evolution of the cyber-infrastructure
- Ensure that students understand cybersecurity best practices and risk management
- Help students acquire industry certifications that are essential in many hiring and promotion decisions
- Provide a hands-on education by giving students access to modern equipment and software used in the cybersecurity field
